The Cairns Cup, a premier women`s chess competition established by the Saint Louis Chess Club, is scheduled to return this June. This event will bring together ten of the world`s leading female chess players.
The tournament is named in honour of Dr. Jeanne Cairns Sinquefield, a co-founder of the Saint Louis Chess Club, reflecting the organization`s commitment to advancing the game of chess among women.
The competition structure is a 10-player single round-robin. Players will have a time control of 90 minutes for the initial 40 moves, followed by an additional 30 minutes for the rest of the game. A 30-second increment is added from the very first move.
