As part of his ongoing travels across Europe to engage with the Volleyball community and promote the sport at the highest levels, CEV President Roko Sikirić recently visited Latvia. His trip included a productive meeting with the Prime Minister of the Baltic nation, Evika Silina.

During their conversation, both parties emphasized the distinctly positive and vital role sport can play in today`s increasingly polarized and divided world. The CEV President highlighted sport`s inherent ability to unite people, inspire individuals, build connections, and foster a sense of community. They also acknowledged sport`s contribution to promoting a healthy lifestyle, a factor especially crucial for younger generations. In a period marked by global uncertainty and division, sport stands out as a source of much-needed stability and positive energy.

Mr. Sikirić also took the opportunity to recall the remarkable success achieved by Latvian athletes, particularly in Beach Volleyball, and noted the consistent development of the indoor game within the country. He pointed out that the potential co-organization of the CEV EuroVolley Men in 2028 by the Latvian Volleyball Federation represents a significant opportunity to further enhance the sport`s visibility in Latvia.
The CEV President conveyed his sincere thanks to the Latvian government for the support provided to sports within the country. He recognized Latvia`s crucial contribution to the continued advancement of European Volleyball through its elite athletes, promising young talents, and highly skilled officials and leaders.
