CEV Women’s Silver EuroLeague: Switzerland Dominates, Awaits Second Finalist

Switzerland has officially punched its ticket to the final of the CEV Women`s Silver European League, securing the first coveted spot with an utterly dominant performance throughout the League Round. Their journey has been nothing short of remarkable, reportedly not dropping a single set on their path to the final, a testament to their formidable skill and preparation.

With one finalist decided, all eyes now turn to the dramatic battle for the second position. The race is tight between Austria and Latvia, and the fate of the final pairing hinges on the very last match of the League Round, set to take place on Sunday.

Austria faces the daunting task of taking on the undefeated Swiss squad. For Austria to leapfrog Latvia and claim that second spot in the final, they need to secure at least one point from this challenging encounter. Should they succeed, the reward is immense: a place in the Silver League final with a shot at promotion to the prestigious Golden League.

The potential final dates are already marked on the calendar. If Austria manages to qualify, the first leg is tentatively scheduled for June 26th in Amstetten, Austria, with the return match planned for three days later in Switzerland.

While Switzerland`s head coach, Lauren Bertolacci, acknowledged that their performance could still improve, the primary objective – reaching the final – has been successfully achieved. On the other side, Latvia`s head coach, Daniele Capriotti, reflected on his team`s development, acknowledging the current gap between his young squad and the more advanced Swiss side, but finding positives in specific aspects of their play. The Austrian camp, led by coach Roland Schwab, will undoubtedly be focused solely on the immediate challenge: securing that crucial point against the league leaders.

The stage is set for a tense conclusion to the League Round and an exciting final, where the ultimate prize is promotion to the higher echelon of European volleyball.
