Eda Erdem’s Monument Unveiled on International Women’s Day

Eda Erdem Dundar, the highly talented and legendary middle blocker who captains both Fenerbahce Opet Istanbul and the Turkish national team, represents far more than just a player in her home country, Türkiye. On March 8th, celebrated globally as International Women`s Day, a special ceremony was held for the unveiling of her sculpture. This significant event brought together prominent figures from her club and the national volleyball federation.

Regarded as an inspiring figure for young girls and accomplished women alike, Eda Erdem Dundar delivered a deeply emotional speech during the ceremony, conveying her feelings and expressing profound gratitude for the honor.

Mehmet Akif Ustundağ, the President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation, also addressed the attendees, highlighting Eda Erdem`s remarkably successful career and her impact on the sport.

The sculpture was crafted by artist Pinar Oktem Dogan. Its design was inspired by an iconic photograph of Eda Erdem taken during a match against Croatia at the 2019 CEV Eurovolley championship.
