Eddie `The Beast` Hall is set to make his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) debut in Poland, and details regarding the rules for his upcoming fight have now been revealed.
He will face fellow strongman veteran Mariusz Pudzianowski on Saturday, April 26.
Hall previously participated in an exhibition MMA bout, a two-on-one handicap match against the Neffati Brothers, where he secured two TKOs for a third-round victory.
However, his debut in combat sports overall was a loss when he faced Hafthor Bjornsson in a boxing match, prior to transitioning his focus to MMA.
Now, these two former World`s Strongest Man champions are slated to clash inside the octagon.
Pudzianowski holds a significant experience advantage in the world of MMA, having competed 26 times. He is also a five-time World`s Strongest Man winner, adding another dimension to their strongman vs. strongman narrative.
Rules and Rounds for the Hall vs Pudzianowski Fight
The ruleset for this contest will strictly follow standard professional MMA regulations, as it is presented as a legitimate MMA fight rather than a crossover event with modified rules.
This means numerous actions commonly banned in MMA will be prohibited, including:
- Headbutting
- Eye Gouging
- Fish Hooking
- Biting or Spitting at the opponent
- Piledriver techniques
- Downward pointing elbow strikes
- Strikes to the spine or back of the head
- Knees or kicks to the head of a grounded opponent
- Throat strikes or grabbing the trachea
- Groin strikes or low blows
- Small joint manipulation
- Hair pulling
The two athletes have agreed that the bout will consist of two four-minute rounds.
Hall has voiced concerns about his cardiovascular conditioning compared to Pudzianowski and initially sought shorter rounds.
Commenting on the negotiation process before the fight, Hall stated: “I wanted two-minute rounds. Mariusz wanted five-minute rounds, and somehow we`ve met in the middle, nowhere near the middle at four.”
“So four-minute rounds is a big ask for me, but it was literally, I say yes to that or the fight is off. I had no choice.”
