FIDE Circuit: Praggnanandhaa Seizes Lead, Fedoseev and Ivanchuk Among Top Five

Significant Changes

April brought significant changes to the FIDE Circuit 2025 standings. As many expected, Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu overtook Ding Liren to claim the top spot. This happened after his strong performance at the GCT Superbet Rapid & Blitz tournament in Poland, where he finished third and earned 8.44 points towards the Circuit standings.

The winner of the Warsaw tournament, Vladimir Fedoseev, earned 13.26 points and immediately climbed to third place.

Meanwhile, the legendary Vasyl Ivanchuk displaced Aravindh Chithambaram from fourth place, taking it himself after winning the Menorca Open tournament, which brought him 12.67 points.

The Menorca finalist, Lu Shanglei, rose to eighth place in the overall standings, and Parham Maghsoodloo rounds out the top ten after his triumph at the Reykjavik Open, which earned him 11.16 Circuit points.

Just outside the top ten are Nodirbek Abdusattorov and Ian Nepomniachtchi, each of whom has so far only played in one tournament counting towards the FIDE Circuit standings.
