FIDE Social Chess Storytelling Challenge 2025

Because behind every move, there`s a story that can change the world

Chess is more than just a game; it`s a vital force, a connection, a quiet expression of resilience and hope. From prisons to schools, refugee camps to community centers, chess is making a real difference in people`s lives. FIDE invites you to share these powerful stories.

We are excited to announce the FIDE Social Chess Storytelling Challenge, a worldwide competition celebrating the profound impact of chess. With the inspiring theme `Every Move Counts`, we call upon filmmakers, chess federations, and anyone making a difference to submit short films showcasing the social benefits of chess globally.

This is your opportunity to inspire others, give a voice to untold stories, and demonstrate how the 64 squares can be a catalyst for personal development, community building, and positive change.

  • Social Transformation: The role of chess in bringing diverse groups together, fostering inclusion, and supporting educational and rehabilitation programs.
  • Opportunities & Livelihoods: How chess creates opportunities for vulnerable individuals and communities, providing pathways for personal and professional growth.
