FIDE is organizing the World Rapid and Blitz Team Chess Championship for the third time. Teams can be formed freely, provided they meet specific criteria. Each match involves six boards, with one board reserved for a female player and another for a participant without a FIDE rating.
The championship begins with the Rapid Chess World Championship over the first three days, utilizing a 12-round Swiss system format. The Blitz World Championship follows on the subsequent two days, featuring a group-stage preliminary phase leading to a knockout final.
According to Elo ratings, the favored team is WR, sponsored by Wadim Rosenstein, boasting a lineup that includes six super grandmasters.
