Amy Askren, the wife of former MMA world champion Ben Askren, has provided a recent update regarding his health after he was admitted to the hospital.
The 44-year-old former fighter was hospitalized last week, suffering from a severe case of pneumonia that originated from a staph infection.

Earlier, Amy had posted on social media describing Ben`s condition as critical and stating he was unresponsive.
In a new message on Facebook, she called upon friends, family, and the MMA community to keep Ben in their prayers.
She expressed deep gratitude for the support received, writing: “Feeling so incredibly thankful for our friends and community. It’s times like this that remind you how truly blessed you are.
“I feel God moving through the love and support we have received. I’m sorry if I haven’t had the chance to respond to you, but know I’ve seen your messages, and each one has meant so much to me.
“Please keep praying for Ben.”

Upon learning of Askren`s hospitalization, the mixed martial arts community was quick to offer their well wishes.
Prominent figures like former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo, ex-middleweight champion Chris Weidman, and lightweight contender Terrance McKinney all posted messages asking for prayers for Ben.
Dillon Danis also shared his thoughts, mentioning he heard the news early and felt the situation was “a lot more serious than people think.” Despite their past history, Danis called Askren “a great coach and a family man” and stated he was “Praying he pulls through this.”

Askren retired from mixed martial arts in November 2019 after competing in the UFC for just over a year, where he secured three victories.
He briefly came out of retirement for a boxing match in April 2021 against Jake Paul, ending in a first-round knockout loss for Askren.
