Leon Edwards Makes Weight for UFC London Showdown with Sean Brady

The welterweight clash between Leon Edwards and Sean Brady is officially set.

The former 170lbs champion is looking to return to winning form against the American fighter at the highly anticipated UFC Fight Night 255 event at The O2 Arena on Saturday night.

This fight marks Edwards’ return since losing his welterweight title to Belal Muhammad last July.

Edwards, known as ‘Rocky’, comfortably made weight for the non-title fight ahead of their Saturday night bout.

The 33-year-old stepped onto the scales first and weighed in at 171lbs.

The weight cut was likely easier for Edwards due to the additional one-pound allowance for non-title fights.

Submission expert Brady weighed in immediately after his opponent, hitting 170lbs exactly.

Edwards became the UK’s second UFC champion in August 2022 with a stunning knockout victory over former pound-for-pound king Kamaru Usman.

He defended his title against Usman in a trilogy fight six months later and concluded 2023 with a victory over Colby Covington.

However, his reign as welterweight champion ended in a grueling match against Belal Muhammad.

Edwards believes the late start time significantly impacted his performance and contributed to losing his title.

Leon Edwards discusses UFC`s blunt conversation before accepting UFC London main event.

He explained, “That 4am/5am walkout was crazy. I tried my best to get into it, but I just couldn’t.

“I felt like my reactions were slow. I knew in my head what I wanted to do and what I had trained to do.

“But for some reason, my body and mind just weren’t in sync as they usually are in fights.

“I walked out at around 5am. I thought that would wake me up and let me know: ‘You’ve got to fight now!’”

"Even though he won, it was still a close fight even on my worst day.

"He won three rounds, and I won two… It was still close even when I wasn`t at my best.”
