Marek Rojko Set for Second Term Leading Slovak Volleyball

On June 21, 2025, the Slovak Volleyball Federation (SVF) convened its 21st Elective Conference at the AquaCity Hotel in Poprad. The assembly saw a high level of participation, with 60 delegates casting votes, representing 97% of those invited. This significant turnout underscored the importance of the decisions facing the federation.

Beyond the critical elections, the conference addressed foundational governance matters. Delegates approved several proposed amendments, including updates to the SVF Statutes, the Electoral Code, and the Competition Rules, ensuring the federation`s regulatory framework remains current and effective.

The central order of business was the election of the federation`s leadership and oversight bodies. Votes were cast by 59 delegates to determine the SVF President, members of the Executive Board, the Vice-Chair of the Supervisory Board, the leadership of the SVF judicial bodies, and the Electoral Commission.

Marek Rojko, who first assumed the presidency in 2021, sought re-election for another term. With a strong vote of confidence, receiving 58 out of 59 cast ballots, Mr. Rojko was successfully re-elected as SVF President. This result grants him a mandate for a second consecutive four-year term, extending his leadership of Slovak Volleyball until at least 2029.

Following his re-election, President Rojko reflected on the journey of the federation. He acknowledged the “serious challenges and internal conflicts” present in 2021, viewing the significant advancement of Slovak Volleyball since then as a key validation of the federation`s direction. Looking forward, he recognized the demanding period ahead but expressed confidence in the new Executive Board`s capacity to navigate these challenges. Mr. Rojko conveyed his firm belief that volleyball in Slovakia has established credibility and achieved results, positioning it among the country`s leading sports organizations. He also noted satisfaction with the presence of candidates for all positions, including the judicial bodies, which he stated confirmed the legitimacy and integrity of the SVF`s governance structure. President Rojko extended his gratitude to the clubs and stakeholders for their role in conducting a high-level conference, suggesting it serves as a model for other sports, and personally thanked his family and the SVF Secretariat team for their support, enabling him to dedicate his energy to the sport`s development.

A notable outcome of the conference is the election of Juraj Mokrý as Vice-President of the Slovak Volleyball Federation. Mr. Mokrý is recognized as one of the world’s most accomplished volleyball referees, bringing a wealth of international experience to the federation`s leadership.
