Mike Perry has challenged Jake Paul and Conor McGregor to step into the ring for a fight under his unique “Dirty Boxing” rules.
Perry, a former UFC fighter who transitioned to bare-knuckle boxing and became a champion, introduced his own fight promotion last year featuring hybrid rules.
Dirty Boxing, as conceived by Perry, utilizes MMA-style gloves and permits elbows within a smaller boxing ring.
Perry previously faced Jake Paul in a standard boxing match in July, where he was defeated over six rounds.
However, Perry, 33, expressed his desire for a rematch with Paul in a Dirty Boxing format, stating, “It would be a dream match to have a rematch with Jake Paul in Dirty Boxing. I want to see how our styles compare when I can use a bit more of a dirty fighting style within the rules.”
He emphasized the stylistic aspect, saying, “Me and Jake had a boxing match, and I would love the chance to redeem myself and face him in Dirty Boxing. He has also mentioned it, so it`s a potential matchup.”
Perry stepped in to fight Paul on short notice after Mike Tyson withdrew due to health concerns. Tyson eventually fought Paul after a 20-year retirement, losing on points in November.
Perry is also interested in fighting McGregor, 36, who hasn`t competed since July 2021 due to a leg injury sustained against Dustin Poirier, 36.
Regarding McGregor, Perry commented, “I was watching a video of his last fight against Dustin Poirier, and he was performing well. His striking is sharp, with good hand speed and technique. I feel like that fight…”
He analyzed McGregor`s fighting style, “He used an old school UFC style of kicking, targeting the thigh, whereas nowadays, most kicks are aimed at the calf. Calf kicks have become common, likely preventing the type of injury McGregor suffered.”
Perry acknowledged McGregor`s leg skills but noted his boxing preference, suggesting, “He is talented with his legs, but I know he enjoys boxing. Dirty Boxing, with elbows allowed, could be a great way for him to return to fighting and face me.”
Perry`s Dirty Boxing is set to host its second event in Miami on Saturday, featuring fighters like Yoel Romero and Andrei Arlovski.
Perry described Dirty Boxing as “very rough and gritty, very aggressive, and constantly action-packed.”
He added, “When I fight, I bring intensity, and now I have big names like Yoel Romero and Andrei Arlovski fighting under my promotion. They are true legends of the fight game, and I consider myself among them. Dirty Boxing is poised to explode onto the scene this Saturday, March 22nd.”
