Panthers Take Control in Series vs. Maple Leafs
The Florida Panthers appear to have rediscovered their championship form. After successfully defending their home ice in Games 3 and 4, the defending Stanley Cup champions traveled to Toronto and overwhelmed the Maple Leafs, scoring six unanswered goals to secure a decisive 6-1 victory. This dominant win sets the stage for a potential series-clinching game back in South Florida on Friday night.
The six-goal outburst was part of an impressive streak where the Panthers scored nine consecutive goals, dating back to the overtime winner in Game 3 last Friday. Florida also secured a 2-0 shutout win in Game 4. In Wednesday`s game, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky delivered a stellar performance, stopping the first 31 shots he faced and narrowly missing consecutive shutouts by just over a minute. Offensive contributions came from multiple players, including Jesper Boqvist and A.J. Greer, who netted their first career playoff goals, while defensemen Aaron Ekblad, Dmitry Kulikov, and Niko Mikkola also added goals.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs action continues Wednesday night, with the Edmonton Oilers having an opportunity to wrap up their second-round series against the Vegas Golden Knights on the road.
