The Carolina Hurricanes and Edmonton Oilers have both seized dominant 3-1 series leads in their respective matchups following key victories on Monday. Carolina defeated the Washington Capitals 5-2 in Game 4, while Edmonton shut out the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 in their Game 4 contest.
Playing at home, the Hurricanes secured their second consecutive win without ever trailing in Game 4. Although the Capitals narrowed the gap twice thanks to goals from defenseman Jakob Chychrun and winger Alex Ovechkin, forward Taylor Hall`s game-winning goal and subsequent assist on defenseman Sean Walker`s insurance tally made the difference. Hall`s impactful two-point performance earned him recognition among the night`s top three players.
In the Western Conference, the Edmonton Oilers controlled their Game 4 against the Golden Knights, never facing a threat of losing. Veteran forward Adam Henrique scored two goals, marking his first multi-goal playoff game since 2012. Evander Kane also contributed significantly with a goal and an assist. Goaltender Stuart Skinner, filling in for the injured Calvin Pickard, delivered a stellar performance, stopping all 24 shots for the shutout.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs action continues on Tuesday as the Dallas Stars host the Winnipeg Jets for Game 4 of their second-round series. Winnipeg will be looking to even the series after falling 5-2 to Dallas in Game 3 on Sunday.
