NHL Playoffs 2025: Stanley Cup schedule, bracket, scores, as Jets shock Blues in double overtime

The thrilling first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs has wrapped up following two dramatic Game 7 matchups over the weekend. On Sunday night, the Winnipeg Jets secured a 4-3 victory in double overtime against the St. Louis Blues. Winnipeg forced the extra period by scoring with just three seconds remaining in regulation. The day before, the Dallas Stars eliminated the Colorado Avalanche with a 4-2 comeback win, powered by a third-period hat trick from Mikko Rantanen against his former club.

The Jets found themselves trailing by two goals twice in their game, first at 2-0 in the opening period and again facing a 3-1 deficit with only two minutes left. Vladislav Namestnikov cut the lead to one at 1:56, and then Cole Perfetti tied the game with a dramatic goal with just three seconds on the clock, sending it to overtime. After more than 36 minutes of sudden-death play, Adam Lowry redirected a Neal Pionk shot into the net, concluding the third-longest Game 7 in NHL history.

In the other exciting Game 7, the Stars were down 2-0 in the third period when Mikko Rantanen scored twice to even the score. He then assisted on Wyatt Johnston`s game-winning goal with under four minutes left. Rantanen completed his memorable performance and sealed the victory by adding an empty-net goal to finalize his hat trick.

The second round of the playoffs is scheduled to commence on Monday night, with the reigning champion Florida Panthers beginning their series on the road against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Canada, which has not had a team lift the Stanley Cup since the 1993 Montreal Canadiens, began the playoffs with five teams but now has three remaining: Toronto, Winnipeg, and last season`s finalist, Edmonton.
