Lithuanian Olympians Monika Paulikiene and Aine Raupelyte are the key players for the national team at the upcoming 2025 CEV Beach Volley Nations Cup Preliminary Phase pool held in Vilnius. As the first players to represent Lithuania at the Olympics in beach volleyball, they carry the nation`s main hopes for this weekend`s competition.
Raupelyte and Paulikiene will try to push Lithuania through against Finland, Norway and Croatia
Eight national teams will compete for the final spots in the Beach Nations Cup Finals – an exciting `country vs country` format introduced in 2022, similar to the Davis Cup in tennis. The preliminary phase is taking place this week at the White Bridge Beach Volleyball Courts in Vilnius.
In the women`s Pool B, hosts Lithuania will compete against Croatia, Finland, and Norway. The men`s Pool D features hosts Lithuania, Bulgaria, Poland, and Slovenia. Matches are scheduled from Saturday to Sunday. The winners of each pool will qualify for the Finals in Espinho, Portugal, scheduled for July 17-20.
Paulikiene and Raupelyte, who represented Lithuania at the Paris Olympics less than a year ago, will be crucial in the country`s bid to reach the Finals in Vilnius. Ariana Rudkovskaja and Skalve Krizanauskaite will join them this weekend in the capital.
Finland will also field their top players in Pool B: Niina Ahtiainen/Taru Lahti and Anniina Parkkinen/Valma Prihti.
