A national workshop for the CEV School Project was recently held in Preddvor, Slovenia. Organized by the Slovenia Coaches Association (Društva odbojkarskih trenerjev Slovenije, or DOTS) with support from CEV, the event featured Italian expert coach and lecturer Alessandro Licata.

The workshop took place on June 1st at the new Športna dvorana Storžič facility. Its primary aim was to disseminate valuable knowledge among coaches working at the foundational level of volleyball.

Approximately 60 coaches attended. In the morning session, Alessandro Licata presented on developing defence skills in young players, focusing on reading signals, reaction training, and overcoming the fear of falling. This theory was followed by a practical demonstration involving thirteen U14 girls from a local club. The afternoon session, led by Rosana Krajnc, covered basic movement principles for young volleyball players, along with effective warm-up and cool-down routines.

Slovenia has been a partner in the CEV School Project `Play Volleyball – Grow with it` since October 2018. During the 2023-2024 school year alone, the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia (OZS) engaged around 3,750 children from 52 clubs and 168 schools. This workshop is one of several recent activities aimed at building a strong foundation for future generations of volleyball players.
