Will Alex Ovechkin Break the All-Time Goals Record This Season?

Washington Capitals` star player, Alex Ovechkin, is getting closer to breaking Wayne Gretzky`s record for the most goals in NHL history. In a recent game against the Winnipeg Jets, Ovechkin scored his 889th career goal.

Ovechkin now needs only six more goals to beat Gretzky`s record of 894 goals.

As Ovechkin gets closer to this historic achievement, many hockey fans are wondering if he will break the record before the end of the current season. According to statistical projections, there is a 73% chance that Ovechkin will break the record this season.

These projections estimate that Ovechkin is likely to break the record around April 14-17. Specifically, there`s about a 15% chance he could break it on April 12 against the Columbus Blue Jackets, and around 14% chances for both April 13 (also against Columbus) and April 15 (against the New York Islanders).

In his last five games, Ovechkin has scored three goals. He has scored a total of six goals in the twelve games played in March.

This season, Ovechkin has scored 36 goals and provided 24 assists. He is aiming to reach the 40-goal mark for the third time in the last four seasons.

The Washington Capitals are also competing for the top spot in the league. As they aim for the best position in the Eastern Conference playoffs, Ovechkin should have plenty of opportunities to score goals in the remaining weeks of the season.
