Woman Accusing Five Former Hockey Canada Players Testifies in Court

The woman who alleges sexual assault by five former members of Canada`s 2018 world junior hockey team testified in court on Monday. She identified Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dube, and Cal Foote as the individuals who she claims subjected her to unwanted sexual acts in a hotel room in London, Ontario.

Her testimony detailed joining McLeod in his hotel room after a gala celebrating the team`s championship. After they had sexual intercourse, she stated that two more men arrived, followed by two additional men while she was in the bathroom.

The woman accused the five men of forcing her onto a bedsheet, discussing sexual acts they wanted her to perform, demanding oral sex, and one performing a splits maneuver over her face. She described the experience as “degrading” and felt it was “all just a joke to them,” according to the testimony reported by the Associated Press.

She further testified that when she went to the bathroom, one of the men followed her, put on a condom, and had sex with her.

She claimed she tried to leave multiple times but was persuaded to stay each time. She also expressed uncertainty about how the men might react if she refused them, stating her mind “just shut down.”

All five men have been charged with sexual assault. Michael McLeod faces an additional charge of being a party to sexual assault. At the time the charges were filed, McLeod, Hart, Dube, and Foote were playing on NHL rosters.
